"The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising and gave to it neither power nor time." Mary Oliver

"Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio, Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something." Kurt Vonnegut.

Creativity Workshops

Next series is for four weeks in February, 2020, beginning on Wednesday February 5th 2020 for four consecutive weeks, ending on Wednesday 26th February. The creativity workshops take place in my studio at Camperdown, starting at 7.00pm each Wednesday until 9.30pm. Each class is limited to a maximum of 6 people to allow for individual attention and camaraderie for each person doing the workshops. Each workshop is $25.00, and all materials are supplied.

So, what are the creativity workshops really about?

The creativity workshops really grew out of holding exhibitions of my work when I heard so many people say to me "I would love to do what you do, but I can’t, Im not creative." Or "I could never do that, I haven’t got a creative bone in my body!" And I know that for me the impulse to create is part of what us all human beings. Just to be fully alive, to be fully who you are is to create, whether you’re a painter or a gardener, or a photographer or a musician or a mathematician or just like looking at things, everyone is creative. So the workshops are really about reigniting the creativity that lives within us all. Each workshop every Wednesday evening is part of a four week curriculum where we practise and learn about how creativity really lives inside us all and different ways to fan that spark and let it grow within us.

And what do you do in a creativity workshop?

Each workshop is different, in some we do mark making, some we do painting, some we do drawing, we make journals, we share photos and we write emails to each other about our own journeys in the workshops. You will get inspiration to have your own creative space and personal desk at home too. All you have to bring is an art smock as all other materials are supplied. Even if you failed Grade 2 finger painting, you can do these workshops. Come and reignite your creativity and feel your creative self come alive again in a supportive and inspiring environment.

What people say about the Creativity Workshops.

Experimental watercolour classes, February, 2020.

Beginning on Saturday the 15th of February I will be holding experimental and contemporary watercolour classes for anyone who wishes to explore their watercolour techniques and free up their watercolour paintings in my studio.

This class is also limited to a maximum of 6 people and we will be looking at a lot of different watercolour techniques such as using salt with colours, scrunching the surface of the paper, using cling film over different washes, and granulation effects.

While this class would suit mostly people with some experience in watercolour people who are just beginning their watercolour journey can also benefit from the class in order to free up their technique. You will need your own watercolours and brushes, I will provide the different papers and other materials we’ll be using.

This class will begin at 1.00pm and go to 4.30pm and the cost for the afternoon will be $45.00 each.

If you'd like a chance to experience your own creativity and what makes you come alive in these workshops for yourself, please get in touch with me through social media or by email at robynsemails@gmail.com. See you there.
