"Your own reasons to create are reason enough. Merely by pursuing what you love, you may inadvertently end up helping us plenty. Do whatever brings you to life then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart. The rest will take care of itself." Liz Gilbert.

Painting and visual works.

In January this year (which seems a long way away now), I went back to do the painting masterclass with Roger Crawford and delved further into making more expressionistic paintings, with a slightly different palette, which I found so rewarding. My studio is still a beautifully warm and inviting place to be and I've recently been updating some works on canvas paper, using several more layers of oil paint. It's amazing to me how my methods of painting both in the encaustic medium and with oil paints are so similar to each other. I'm still painting lot with my hands and I've developed a new palette of colours, including a Violet and a Prussian blue combined with Lemon yellow which has reinvigorated my painting for me. One of my latest paintings in this palette is When breath becomes Air, Oil on canvas paper which you can see on this site under paintings. Painting has always been a joy for me, I just haven't been pursuing it diligently or methodically enough this year, and I'm starting again from now. In a huge piece of luck for me, my painting muse hasn't given up on me either, and she's still turns up when I paint, which is simultaneously a miracle, an honour and a responsibility to keep painting.

Hopefully by the time you read this there will be a blog attached to this website and also to my social media accounts, so I'll be able to keep everyone up to date with my painting, writing, and of course the Creativity Workshops. Increasingly I've been thinking about returning to writing the book I planned a few years ago on creativity, tentatively titled Re-igniting your Creativity, or, The Keys to your Creativity, or another title entirely, which hopefully will turn up soon…. The Creativity Workshops have been going so well and out of the blue (where all the best ideas come from) all sorts of ideas have been coming at me to write about. I'm currently assembling some notes now and starting to resurrect the book from the back files of my mind.

"The arrogance of belonging is not about egotism or self-absorption. In a strange way it's the opposite; it is a divine force that will actually take you out of yourself and allow you to engage more fully with life. Because often what keeps you from creative living is your self-absorption, (your self-doubt, your self-disgust, your self-judgment, your crushing sense of self protection). The arrogance of belonging pulls you out of the darkest depths of self hatred – not by saying 'I am the greatest' but merely by saying, 'I am here.' " Liz Gilbert

Creativity Workshops

The Creativity Workshops have been going fantastically well. I'm right in the middle of running one series of 4 week workshops as I write this and I'm planning another series of workshops for later this year. Each series of workshops runs one night a week, (usually on Tuesday or Wednesday nights) from 7.00pm to 9.30pm; for four weeks. The cost is $25.00 per workshop. The idea for the workshops was born because whenever I exhibited my paintings, or when I told people I was an artist, most people would say to me something like:_ "I wish I could do that but I'm not creative." I would look into their eyes and see the sadness and resignation there and realised that I could actually teach people how to regain their own sense of innate creativity and aliveness in a series of workshops in my studio. And so I do. We are all born with a spark or with innate creativity inside us, but somehow for many of us we lose track of the spark in our own lives, perhaps its educated out of us, perhaps just our upbringing didn't encourage our creativity, but whatever happened we always feel its absence. And there are simple, practical exercises that I do, that anybody can do, to get back in touch with your own creativity. And the best part is you don't have to have any artistic ability at all, you could have failed Grade 1 finger painting and still do this course. People just seem to love this course and I have to say I love it too, there's something so inherently life giving and energising about finding and using your own creative light. If you'd like to get in touch to do these workshops, there should be buttons on this website that will link you to social media and to my blog, so get in touch, I'd love to see you.

And here's what some of the participants say about the Creativity Workshops: - "These workshops have been the best thing that I have ever done for myself."

"Robyn, you have enabled us."

"Thankyou so much Robyn, I loved these workshops!"

If you'd like a chance to experience your own creativity and what makes you come alive in these workshops for yourself, please get in touch with me through social media or by email at See you there.
